EMURIDE PRIVACY POLICY (AUSTRALIA)

Emuride (“Emuride”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Emuride mobile application and related services (the “Services”), including carpool matching, trip coordination, communications, and payments.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how you can access and correct it or make a complaint. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1) WHO WE ARE

2) WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION?
“Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

3) WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information you provide, information generated through your use of the Services, and (in limited cases) information from third parties.

A. Account and profile information
- Name (or display name), email address, mobile number
- Profile photo and optional profile details/preferences
- Community selection/membership (if your access is based on a community)

B. Verification and “required documents” (if enabled)
If your community or the Service requires it (for example, for drivers), we may collect and store documents and related details such as:
- Driver licence and/or identity documents
- Vehicle registration/insurance or other “required documents”
- Document status (submitted/approved/rejected) and audit information (e.g., timestamps)
These documents may be reviewed by Emuride and/or authorised community administrators (see section 8).

C. Trip and booking information
- Trip creation details (origin, destination, route/waypoints if used, time, seats, price/contribution if applicable)
- Booking details (including accepted pickup/drop-off per booking)
- Trip history and cancellations
- Ratings, reviews, reports, and safety-related feedback

D. Communications
- In-app 1:1 messages and/or community group chat content (where available)
- Support communications (including attachments you provide)

E. Payments, wallet and payouts (if applicable)
- Payments are processed via third-party providers (Stripe hosted checkout). Emuride does not store full payment card numbers.
- We may receive and store limited payment information such as transaction references, payment status, receipts, and wallet balance/ledger entries.
- For the cashout/payout feature we collect bank account details or payout identifiers needed to send funds, and share them with the relevant payout processor.

F. Location information (ONLY while the app is in use)
Location is critical to carpool matching and navigation.
- We collect your device’s precise location only while you are actively using the app (foreground) to enable features like trip matching, pickup/drop-off coordination, and maps/navigation.
- We do not collect your precise location when the app is closed or not in use.
You can disable location permissions in device settings, but key features may not work properly.

G. Device, log and analytics information
We may collect:
- Device type/model, operating system, app version, language
- IP address, timestamps, crash logs, performance diagnostics
- Usage data (screens/actions) and security events (e.g., fraud/abuse indicators)

4) HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION
We collect personal information:
- directly from you (account creation, profile, posting or booking trips, document uploads, messaging, support requests);
- from your device when you grant permissions (e.g., location, camera/photos for profile/doc uploads, notifications);
- from integrated service providers as needed to operate core features (see section 8).

5) WHY WE COLLECT, USE AND DISCLOSE INFORMATION
We use personal information to:
- provide and operate the Services (accounts, communities, trip posting/booking, matching, coordination, navigation);
- enable communications between users (messaging/group chat) and with support;
- process payments, wallet functions, refunds and payouts (where applicable);
- manage safety and trust (identity/document checks where enabled, preventing fraud/abuse, handling reports, enforcing terms);
- improve and secure the Services (analytics, troubleshooting, testing, preventing spam/fraud, auditing);
- communicate with you (service notices, OTP verification codes, booking updates, security alerts);
- send marketing communications where permitted and in line with your preferences (you can opt out).

6) APP PERMISSIONS
Depending on your device and how you use the Services, we may request permissions such as:
- Location (while using the app) – for matching and navigation
- Camera/photos – to upload profile photos and required documents
- Notifications – to send trip updates and messages
You can change permissions in your device settings.

7) WHAT WE SHARE WITH OTHER USERS
To make carpooling work, we share limited information with other users you interact with (for example, when you post a trip, request a seat, or match):
- your display name and profile photo;
- trip and booking coordination details (pickup/drop-off, timing, route summary);
- driver vehicle details (such as make/model/colour and, where required for pickup coordination, registration);
- ratings/reviews associated with your account.
Please avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information via chat.

8) SERVICE PROVIDERS, ADMINISTRATORS AND OTHER DISCLOSURES
A. Service providers
We use trusted providers to operate the Services, including:
- Google Maps / Google Maps Platform: mapping, geocoding, route display, and navigation handoff.
- Stripe (hosted checkout): payment processing and related services.
- SMTP2GO: email delivery (including OTP and service messages).
- Mobile Message gateway: SMS delivery (including OTP and service messages).
- Hosting and infrastructure providers (e.g., cloud hosting, storage, backups) to run our platform and store uploaded files and data.

These providers may process personal information on our behalf for the purposes described in this policy and under contractual controls.

B. Community administrators (if applicable)
If your access is based on a community, authorised community administrators may be able to:
- view membership status and limited profile/trip information relevant to the community; and/or
- review required documents and see document approval status,
to administer community access and safety requirements.

C. Legal, safety and business transactions
We may disclose personal information:
- where required or authorised by law (e.g., responding to lawful requests);
- to protect the rights, safety and security of users, Emuride, and the public (e.g., investigating fraud or serious misuse);
- to professional advisers (lawyers/accountants) and insurers as needed; and/or
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets (with appropriate safeguards).

We do not sell your personal information.

9) OVERSEAS DISCLOSURE
Some service providers may store or process personal information outside Australia (for example, where global cloud or payment providers operate). Where practicable, locations may include Australia, the United States, Singapore, and the European Union/United Kingdom (such as Ireland). We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information in a way consistent with Australian privacy laws.

10) SECURITY
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, and secure hosting practices. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11) DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes, including safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Account deletion:
- In-app: Account → Edit Profile → Delete → Delete]
- Or contact us (section 15)

When you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account unless we need to retain certain information for legal, safety, fraud prevention or dispute resolution purposes. Some data may persist for a limited period in backups before being overwritten.

12) ACCESS, CORRECTION AND CHOICES
- Access & correction: You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you.
- Location control: You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but core features may be limited.
- Marketing opt-out: You can opt out of marketing communications using an unsubscribe link (if provided) or by contacting us.
- Anonymity: Where practicable you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, but many carpool features require identifying information to function safely.

13) COMPLAINTS
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us (section 15) with details of your complaint. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

14) CHILDREN
Emuride is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
